Degen,<\/span> an artist Michael DeForge (<em>Lose, Ant Colony, Leaving Richard\u2019s Valley<\/em>) says is \u201cone of the smartest and funniest cartoonists in the game,\u201d is the son of celebrated children\u2019s book illustrator, Bruce Degen (<em>The Magic School Bus<\/em>). A. Degen was born in Brooklyn, New York. After several years in Tokyo, he now lives and works as cartoonist, illustrator and literary translator in Connecticut. He is the author of the books <em>Mighty Star: and The Castle of the Cancatervater<\/em> and <em>Soft X-Ray\/Mindhunters<\/em> (Koyama Press). His short comic, \u201cCrime Chime Noir,\u201d was a <em>Best American Comics<\/em> selection.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"Reviews\"><\/a><br \/>\n<span class=\"txtHeading\">IN PRAISE OF A. DEGEN<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"txtParhead\">For all<\/span> the cacophonous action and psychedelic experiences depicted in the book, there remains a solid continuity between images, making the book incredibly fun to read. But because the contents of those images are so dense and deceptive, he also produces a book that requires\u2014and invites\u2014closer engagement.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"txtReview\">&#8211; A.V.
